Botulinumtoxin ist ein nat\u00fcrlich vorkommendes Bakterieneiweiss. Wird es in den Muskel gespritzt, blockiert es dort gezielt die Nervenimpulse, so dass der entsprechende Muskel nicht mehr wie gewohnt stark angespannt werden kann. Andere Nervenfunktionen wie das F\u00fchlen oder Tasten durch die Haut werden dadurch nicht beeinflusst.<\/p>\n<p>Botulinumtoxin A wird seit den 80er Jahren als zugelassenes Medikament (<strong>BOTOX<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong>) bei Menschen u. a. zur Entspannung von Muskelverkrampfungen im Bereich der Augen (Lidkrampf) sowie in der Neurologie eingesetzt. Die Injektion von Botulinumtoxin in die mimische Muskulatur der Stirn f\u00fchrt zu einer <strong>Gl\u00e4ttung \u00e4sthetisch st\u00f6render Hautfalten<\/strong>, die f\u00fcr mehrere Monate anh\u00e4lt. Entscheidend ist, dass die Muskulatur nicht dauerhaft geschw\u00e4cht wird, sondern f\u00fcr eine begrenzte Zeit ihre Aktivit\u00e4t gemildert wird. Durch die gezielte Entspannung bestimmter Gesichtsmuskeln, deren \u00dcberaktivit\u00e4t im Laufe der Jahre Hautfalten entstehen l\u00e4sst, kann ein Verstreichen der Faltenbildung und eine deutliche Gl\u00e4ttung der Haut erzielt werden.<\/p>\n<p>2002 wurde der Wirkstoff von <strong>BOTOX<sup>\u00ae, <\/sup><\/strong>Botulinumtoxin A, offiziell als Medikament mit dem Namen VISTABEL<sup>\u00ae <\/sup>zur Behandlung der zwischen den Augenbrauen gelegenen, sog. \u201eZornesfalten\u201c von Swissmedic zugelassen.
